
- Careers and Lifestyles Expo/Symposium and Job Fair 2009 will once again open its doors on Thursday 1st, October 2009, as a not for profit event, free of cost to the public. It will feature exhibits and booths with information on how to access job opportunities, select educational options, find self-start options, create jobs and businesses and network with a range of people with the resources or expertise to help face the challenge of a transitional economy and change.
- Participants will also have the opportunity to access jobs, meet employers, career and human resource developers, educators and entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of financial institutions involved in micro enterprise development, providers of health and lifestyle products and services and inspiring motivational speakers.
- There will also be a “Powerful HR, Career, Community and Educational Solutions” segment which will be presented by some of Jamaica’s most outstanding transformational leaders, who will share information on their work and successful HR and social interventions.
- There will be a Health & Well-being segment which will include presentations on important aspects of life management and self empowerment, including Financial Planning, Health, Happiness and Well-being. A new feature of the well-being segment is the Biometric Body Scan.
- This year we will also be inducting into our Career Hall of Fame four outstanding persons of Jamaican heritage who have gained international recognition for excellence in their different fields of endeavour. This will take place in a brief Ceremony at the Opening of the event and will include:
Dr. Parris Lyew-Ayee Jr.: A recipient of the United Kingdom Scholarship with First Class Honours. He also holds a BSc. in Earth Sciences from UWI, Mona, and a PhD in Geography from the University of Oxford. He is currently the Director of the Mona Geoinformatics Institute. Dr. Parris Lyew-Ayee will deliver the Keynote Address at this year’s Expo/Symposium.
Mr. Usain Bolt: World Class Athlete, Olympic and World Champion, and the world’s fastest human being.
Mr. Barrington Irving: An aviator who built his own aircraft “INSPIRATION” and created a world record flying solo around the world to motivate inner-city and minority youth to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace.
Ms. Diana McIntyre-Pike – Pioneer in Community Tourism - Recipient of the prestigious 2009 Blue List Award for Leadership in Responsible Tourism internationally – first in the world. She is the CEO of Countrystyle Tourism and President of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) - Caribbean Chapter.
