JOB SUMMARY:
To coordinate the planning, organizing and implementation of the company's marketing strategies, campaigns, promotional activities and events to support the Jamaica Observer products. To play a lead role in improving and enhancing the company's image (internal & external), through promotional and public relations activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and execute Marketing Campaigns with the approval of the General Manager
- To coordinate all Observer owned events
- To coordinate the department's marketing support of major Editorial content.
- To coordinate the department's participation in national, cultural, educational & sporting events
- To review external requests for promotional support and company tours and implement as necessary
- To be responsible for the administration of all contra agreements
- Order and distribute promotional merchandise
- Preparation of and dissemination of Corporate Communications i.e. speeches, commercial scripts, company messages
- Prepare and secure sponsorships for selected marketing events and promotions
- Develop and prepare new corprate collaterals
- Manage day to day utilization of the Marketing Budget, ensuring strict compliance with spend limits
- To be responsible for the fostering and maintaing positive relations with the Jamaica Observer and the community
- To be responsible for preparing reports related to each event or programme
- To supervise and appraise staff reporting to this position
Job Specification:
1. Qualification & Experience Required:
- First Degreee in Marketing, Business Administration, Management or Communications
- Formal training in or knowledge of project management tools and techniques
- At least three years experience in Marketing Communications
- Experience in the development and implementation of company strategies
- Must have experience in supervising and coordinating the work of others
2. Specific Skills or Competencies Required:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on several critical programmes at the same time
- The ability to manage deadlines, take initiative and translate knowledge into powerful, concise communications with attention to detail
- High quality written and oral communications skills
- Must be computer literate
- Must possess a valid driver's license
3. Specific Knowledge Required:
- Must be highly knowledgeable about marketing principles and sales strategies
- Must be knowledgeable about media related affairs
May be required to travel outside of Kingston, and work beyond the normal working hours and on weekends and holidays
